The air conditioning is set for someone else and you sit still for eight hours. If you are always cold in the office, the thermostat debate rarely gets you anywhere. A heated layer does: warmth you wear, on your own setting, without changing the room for anyone else.

One temperature for forty people never suits everyone. In summer the gap is biggest: warm outside, chilly at your desk.
Sitting still
At a desk you make little heat of your own. By mid-afternoon the cold has crept in, even in a room that felt fine at nine.
The open-plan office
A draught from the door, a vent above your head, a desk by the window. You cannot move the vent, but you can warm yourself.
Home office, heating low
Heating a whole house for one person at a desk feels wasteful. Many home workers turn the thermostat down and warm themselves instead.
What works at a desk
- A fleece with heat inside. The Wøley is a heated fleece with five heating panels on belly, back and neck. Soft inside, with a chest pocket.
- A vest under your cardigan. A heated vest warms your core and leaves your arms free for typing.
- Low is usually enough. Indoors the lowest of the three heat levels often does the job, and the power bank lasts longest there.
- Hours of warmth. On a vest the small power bank gives about 3–6 hours of warmth, the large one about 6–12 hours.
- No cable to the wall. The power bank goes where you go, so the warmth comes with you to the meeting room and the coffee machine.

Why am I always cold in the office?
Often it is simply the situation. You sit still for hours, so your body makes little heat, and the air conditioning is set to one temperature for everyone. A desk near a vent, a door or a window makes it feel colder still.
Can I wear a heated vest indoors all day?
Yes. Indoors the lowest of the three heat levels is usually enough. On a Gløde vest the small 10,000 mAh power bank gives about 3–6 hours of warmth and the large 20,000 mAh power bank about 6–12 hours, depending on the level.
Does heated clothing stand out at work?
Hardly. The Wøley is a fleece with the heating panels inside, so it looks like a normal fleece jacket. A heated vest can go under a cardigan or a roomy jacket.
