What to look for
- Power source: mains at home, a power bank or a built-in battery where there is no socket.
- Size: a throw for one on the sofa, a larger blanket for two, or a single or double underblanket for the bed.
- Washing: on many blankets the controller and cable come off, so the blanket can go in the machine. Follow the care label.
- Heat levels: several levels let you choose between a gentle warmth and a warmer setting for a cold evening.
- Cable length: long enough to reach the sofa from the socket, or a power bank in your coat pocket.
- Packing: for camping or the sideline, choose one that rolls up small with a strap or a bag.

Frequently asked questions
Does a USB heated blanket work with any power bank?
Often a 5 V USB power bank will do, but check which connector and output the blanket asks for. A larger power bank lasts longer, but how long depends on the blanket and the heat level.
Heated throw or electric underblanket?
A throw goes over you on the sofa or in a chair. An underblanket lies on the mattress under the sheet and warms the bed before you get in. Whether you may leave it on while you sleep depends on the model, so follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Which heated blanket works for camping or the sideline?

Do I need a heated blanket at all?
If you sit still in the cold for a long time, added heat helps. For a picnic or a mild evening an ordinary outdoor blanket is often enough. On a cold seat in the stands, a heated seat cushion warms where you sit.
